This past year marked an exciting new chapter for St. Mary’s Academy as we launched our first-ever Alumnae vs. Students athletics series. Designed to bring together past and present Flames, the series celebrated connection, community, and a shared love of sport.

Throughout the spring, alumnae of all ages returned to campus and local venues to compete against our current student-athletes in basketball, soccer, and volleyball. Each game offered a meaningful opportunity to reconnect with classmates, meet fellow alumnae from across generations, and experience the energy of SMA athletics once again.

From the opening whistle to the final point, the series was defined by enthusiasm, spirited competition, and a deep sense of belonging. Alumnae players took to the court and field with determination and joy, while students rose to the challenge, creating memorable matchups filled with skill, sportsmanship, and fun. Just as important were the many supporters in the stands, whose energy and encouragement helped make each event truly special.

We are especially grateful to our dedicated coaches, including members of our SMA faculty and retired teachers, whose leadership enriched the experience for everyone involved.

The success of the Alumnae vs. Students athletics series reflects the strength of the SMA community and the lasting impact of the Academy experience. The connections formed here extend far beyond graduation, continuing to unite generations through shared traditions and school spirit.

We look forward to building on this momentum in the years ahead, with plans already underway for future matchups and new opportunities for alumnae to get involved. Whether you are ready to compete or cheer from the sidelines, we invite you to stay connected and be part of what comes next.
