St. Mary's Academy is committed to nurturing our young women — spirit, mind and body.

Education in the faith is a significant aspect of the St. Mary's Academy difference. Through the Mission & Charism Department, Religion Program, school-wide liturgies, daily prayer and the presence of our Holy Names Chapel, students are encouraged to embrace and develop their faith lives.

Liturgy and Prayer

School Liturgies

The SMA community gathers several times in Alumnae Hall during the school year for school-wide liturgical celebrations. These gatherings are opportunities to worship together, to participate in the rhythm of the Liturgical year, and to give thanks for the many blessings we receive.

Prayer

We begin each day with prayer, either school-wide or in the classroom. Students are welcome to visit our Holy Names Chapel anytime throughout the school day to pause, reflect and pray.

Special Celebrations and Rituals

Holy Names Chapel is our designated sacred space on campus. Throughout the year, students and staff frequent the Chapel individually or gather as a community to pray and reflect. We treasure this sacred space in our building.

Wednesday Morning Prayer

Students, staff, parents, Sisters and alumnae gather Wednesday at 8 a.m. in the Holy Names Chapel to celebrate Mass or participate in Taize Prayer (Advent) or Morning Prayer (Lent). Each homeroom is assigned one Wednesday throughout the year to lead the ministries. In the midst of the busyness of our lives, it allows us to be mindful and grateful for our many blessings. Join us Wednesday mornings beginning after Thanksgiving through the May long weekend.
